What city is considered to be a birthplace of the Russian ballet? Of course, it is the Saint Petersburg! There is no other place to learn about Russian ballet more than here – in the cradle of the Russian ballet tradition, the city where the first Russian School of Theatrical Dance was founded, former capital with lots of Imperial Theaters as well as the legendary Vaganova Ballet Academy that has been working to preserve and enhance the best traditions of the classical heritage.

Sounds fascinating, isn't it? On our tour we invite you to plunge into the world of a Russian ballet art! First, we will visit a museum that is located at the same building as the most famous ballet school of St Petersburg! There you will learn more about the world of the Russian opera and ballet and see multiple stage decorations, drawings, dresses, books, things that belonged to our famous artists, moreover you can try to learn the 5 basic positions of choreography from a lesson videotaped by the rector of Vaganova Academy, Nikolay Tsiskaridze.

There you also will learn who is Vaganova and why she is an icon personality.

After our introduction to the history of theater culture in the Saint Petersburg we will visit one of our famous former Imperial theaters (Mariinsky, Alexandrinsky, Mikhailovsky) to see what is hidden from an eye of common theater visitors. We will get there by taxi if needed, depends on a chosen theater location. This exclusively arranged tour will allow you to see a backstage of a theatre to enhance your experience. You will learn what was happening there during the royal, soviet and modern times. Unveiling the hidden parts of a theatre world will definitely bring you some valuable moments to remember! Please note that some in some parts of a theater you are not allowed to take pictures, especially if there is a rehearsal on stage by the time of your visit.
